The Solaris Operating System redefines what an operating system should be. It is the premier OS for reducing cost and complexity throughout the boundaryless data center. Building on 20 years of experience, Sun provides customers with a secure and highly available environment by design. The Solaris OS can scale up and scale out, allowing customers to take full advantage of UltraSPARC or x86 processor-based systems, from smaller departmental servers to massive SunPlex clusters with hundreds of CPUs.
